Course Syllabus

The Book of James

This course is an in-depth look at James, which looks at the use of the tongue and the wisdom of the Old Testament to First Century Believers. The course outlines James verse by verse and gives great perspectives on Faith in Trials, Patience in Trials, and Being a Doer of the Word of God.

As you work through this class you will get familiar with the Canvas Learning System.  It is a great tool and will aide you in your educational endeavors.

When you go to the Modules tab you will find all your assignments in the order that they are to be completed.  Also, as you click on each of the assignments you will see instructions for the same.  For example, the first assignment is the academic honesty agreement. After the academic honesty agreement is completed you will have access to the first module(s) and the last, which is the term paper and outside reading requirements which you will want to begin promptly.  Please download and read the CTS General Guidelines for a Research Paper.pdf so that you can properly understand the expectations regarding quality and format for all submitted research papers. 

When you click on the Grades tab you will see what you have received grades for thus far in the course.  This is a great place for you to go and keep track of your progress. You will have 2 chances to take each quiz, this is meant to allow you a second chance if you do not do well on first attempt. However, both the Mid-Term and Final exam can only be taken once. All your quizzes and exams will be based off your homework, and will be open note/open book. As a note: in order to finish your degree you must have an 80% or better for the overall program.

The grades for this course will be calculated using this formula:

Academic Honesty      05 possible points

Book Report                    55 possible points

Quizzes (combined)    40 possible points

Mid Term Exam             100 possible points

Final Exam                       100 possible points

Term Paper                      100 possible points

The total possible points for this course will be 400.  Your grade will be a calculated based on the total points you earn in relation to the total possible points. Also, you have to complete this course within 90 days of your start date. If you do not complete the course within the allotted time, you will be given an incomplete for your grade.

Your Professor/Mentor is available to you via email.  Once you have connected with him or her you can begin the class at any time.
